It’s been a busy month already for Memphis Socialists!

The Memphis-SP joined several Tennessee organizations under the banner of Put the People First on May Day to march in solidarity for a variety of
issues, including a living wage and immigration reform.
On May 8, he Memphis-SP kicked off its Red Hot Summer concert series with a show featuring five local hip-hop artists. Close to 100 people attended and the Memphis-SP would like to recognize our Treasurer, Schaeffer Mallory, for providing leadership for this event.

For more info about the Red Hot Summer concert series, like our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/redhotsummer

You can also find all of the featured artists on Facebook: Its RED Planet, Rahleecoh Justis Ishakarah, Lurrell Blxck Messivh Low, Y.R. Generation, and Nick KnowledgeNick Hicks – check them out!

On May 10, the Memphis Socialist Party was at it again, this time winning the Team Spirit Award at Rolling for Independence, an annual fundraiser for the Memphis Center for Independent Living (MCIL). MCIL is a resource, referral, and civil rights center for people with disabilities and leads the local fight against institutionalization. We were proud to roll in solidarity with Memphis-SP member Josue Rodriguez, who serves as the Community Organizer for MCIL.
