BABY
GOD
MOM BABY GOD brings live theatre and political activism together in a powerful new way. Audiences are immersed in the tactics and rhetoric of the anti-abortion movement as they don name-tags upon entrance into the performance space and become conference participants. MOM BABY GOD aims to inspire renewed commitment to reproductive rights advocacy by exposing how effectively the anti-abortion movement is stripping away women’s reproductive rights.
Forty years after Roe v. Wade, MOM BABY GOD explores how girls develop a sense of self and sexuality amidst the ongoing political backlash against feminism and reproductive rights. Developed by reproductive rights activist, actor and playwright Madeline Burrows, MOM BABY GOD is based on a year of immersive research and interviews at anti-abortion conferences, fundraisers and rallies.
“See this play. It is a tour de force that serves both the movement for reproductive rights and the art of theater with extreme effectiveness.“
